Seven Ten Split

Here is an interview that was done with a band that comes from Idaho.  They are musicians that want to get there music out and have fun all at the same time.  Hope you enjoy.

Choking Hazard:  Lets start off by giving the readers a little history on seven ten split

Seven Ten Split:   We started in 1996 in a bowling alley, we have been playing shows ever since, we recorded our first full length album in Olympia Washington in 1999, we just finished our new album titled "Colon Fornication" in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago(the cover is a parody of the Chili Peppers Californication). We are currently touring and playing everywhere possible

Choking Hazard:  So, Who would you say influences you guys to play music, as far as bands go?

Seven Ten Split:  The influences vary throughout the band, but some pretty general ones are, Screeching Weasel, the Queers, the Ramones, Nofx, Afi, it is hard we love so many, and I think it is very apparent in our music.

Seven Ten Split:  I could name bands off all day long

Choking Hazard:  Yeah

Choking Hazard:  I was listening to the song "You look like a pussy". Any story behind that?

Seven Ten Split:  It just kind of stemmed from playing some local shows, and putting some frustrations we were having at the time into a song, we were pretty happy with how it came out, what did you think of it?
Choking Hazard:  I think it's a good song

Choking Hazard:  I was very impressed

Seven Ten Split:  Thanks

Choking Hazard:  You have a new album that you just finished, How do you guys feel about it, any regrets, are you happy with it and all, etc.?

Seven Ten Split:  Yes we are definitely happy with it, we would have liked a little more time, we recorded 18 songs in 3 days, the studio (Complex Sound) and our engineer (Tommy Norton) were great, he did an outstanding job of capturing what we wanted. I think it is a big step up from our last album
Choking Hazard:  Where can people go to find out whats new with Seven Ten Split?

Choking Hazard:  Where can people go to learn more about Seven Ten Split?

Seven Ten Split:  I am actually updating our website as we speak, right now we are at http://seventensplit.iuma.com, but we also just bought www.seventensplitmusic.com, so that will be up and running as soon as possible, other than that we will be playing everywhere possible and look for our new album in stores everywhere
Choking Hazard:  As far as locally, who would you say is favorite band to play with?

Seven Ten Split:  Our favorite band to play with in Boise was the Louts, but they moved to Denver so now we have to go there, That is kind of a tough question right now, locally we have been playing with a lot of out of town bands(the line, the Deviates, on Friday we are playing with some Vegas bands, and a band called Left Unsaid from New Mexico) We look forward to playing with more Idaho bands this summer

Choking Hazard:  Lastly, is there anything that you would like to leave with the readers of this zine?

Seven Ten Split:  We look forward to playing as many places as we can and hopefully we will come to places near all of the readers. Keep up with our websites, they are constantly updated with the latest news and shows, if possible check out our new album, it will be in stores in May, hopefully we will see you all in the future, look for us at the Warped tour in Boise this summer
